Weekly Update

Jul 26, 2024

Our leadership week has come to an end and out student leaders have worked hard to prepare a wonderful camp for everyone. We can not wait to see everyone on Monday. There are a few things to keep in mind this week.

Sunday Night

  • Rookie band parent night 6:30 CHS Band room

    • If you are a new band parent we want to encourage you to come to our informational meeting.

    • Meet Veteran parents

    • Learn about what's going on

    • Get insider tips as to how to have the most fun experience possible this season

  • Dues, Instrument rental fee, and medical forms (not the VHSL physical) drop off.

    • Dues are $200, if you need to rent an instrument it is $100, and everyone needs to submit a med form even returning marchers.

    • I will collect dues and med forms at 7:30pm Sunday night. Doing this ahead of time makes starting camp so much easier. This is for new and returning members.

Band Camp

  • Monday through Friday 8:30am-4pm for two weeks.

  • Start hydrating now. Drink water. Coffee is not water filtered through coffee grinds. Well it is, but it doesn’t count.

  • Get plenty of sleep the night before

  • Eat a good breakfast

  • Students need to bring a lunch they will not be allowed to leave campus during our lunch break

  • Be early!

  • Tennis shoes are required. No sandals or flip-flops.

  • Light comfortable clothing that you can move around in.

  • Apply SunScreen. 9 days of band camp with a sunburn because you forgot to put on sunscreen is not a lesson you want to learn the hard way.

  • Wear a hat

  • Bring your instrument

  • Have fun!

The student leadership team should have reached out to students by now via text. They are there to help you if you have any questions. Don’t hesitate to ask.

The first step in our journey together begins Monday.
