CHS Band Weekly update 8/26/24

Good Evening Band Family!

It is a busy week this week and I want to make sure you get all the information you need to be successful!

Friday night football

• First game of the season we will rehearse from 4-5:30 then break for dinner

• The boosters will be sending out an email concerning supporting the dinner for the band students later.

• Kick-off is 7:00pm. The game should be over around 9.

• Students will march back from the stadium as a band and be dismissed from the band room. Please do not ask to leave from the stadium.

• We will be in band t-shirts for the game. 

• The weather is currently calling for rain. Unlike bands of the past, we no longer march in the rain unless it is for a competition, and even then, not if it is raining hard and only if we’ve taken the necessary precautions. A decision may be made as late as 5:50pm Friday (dinner and rehearsal will still happen if the call is made that late).

UVA Seat Sales

• Our next big fundraising opportunity is this weekend at UVA selling seats for their football game. 

• Please read all the instructions for selling seats at UVA if interested. Some things have changed, veteran band parents should read as well.

• Call time is 3:30pm. Payout into student ledgers is dependent on the number of seats sold.

Community Partnerships

• The Band Boosters is beginning its community partnership drive. 

• We need your help.

• If you own a business, know a local business owner, or work for a local business we ask that you reach out to them and ask if they would consider supporting the Charlottesville High School Band.
