The band program at Charlottesville High School provides a comprehensive musical experience for its' students, with an emphasis on Concert, Solo and Chamber Ensemble performances. Ensembles include Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and Marching Band, all of which perform throughout the year at various school, local and state events. With the support from our parents, community and administration, the goal of the Charlottesville High School band program will be focused on quality music making while instilling a life-long appreciation for music and the arts.

→ CHS Musical Program Wins Grand Championship in Orlando
Charlottesville High School musicians and singers brought home an impressive string of awards from the Worldstrides Heritage Festival of Music in Orlando April 18-22, 2012, including the Grand Championship Award.
The CHS Orchestra String Ensemble, the CHS Band, and the CHSO String Orchestra each won first place in their class and received gold medals ratings. The CHS Orchestra and CHS Band won the Instrumental Sweepstakes; the CHS Choir won a third place silver medal; and all three musical ensembles (orchestra, band, and choir) were honored with the Festival Sweepstakes Award, also known as the Grand Championship.

Due to a large amount of conflicts with spring sports on May 8th, our Spring Concert date has been changed to Sunday, May 20th at 2pm (PAC).

§ Concert Dress - Orange for ALL!
→ May 23rd Booster Meeting (6:30pm Officer Slate)
→ May 28th - Memorial Day Ceremony (11am) (Wind Ensemble)
§ This is a required performance
§ Report time - 10am
§ Depart - 10:15am
§ Ceremony - 11am (home by 12:30pm)
§ Concert Dress - Khakis shorts or pants with black "Fire and Ice" t-shirt.
→ June 2nd Graduation - John Paul Jones Arena (Combined Band)
§ Report to JPJ - 3:30pm (back entrance…more details later)
§ Graduation - 4:30pm
§ Done by 5:45pm
§ This is a required performance
§ Concert Dress - "Church" appropriate clothes.
•Gentlemen - dress pants/dress shirt/dress shoes and tie requested. No tennis shoes, sandals or flip-flops.
•Ladies - Nice dress or dress pants and blouse. No tank tops and skirts should cover knees while sitting. No flip-flops please.
