CHS Band Weekly Update

Good Evening Band Family!

It’s finally here, we’ve reached champs week for the 2024 school year. We are putting the finishing touches on what has already been an amazing season.  

This past weekend the Charlottesville High School Marching Knights competed at the Powhatan Fall Classic. We are still waiting for tapes and a recap sheet, but here is what I do know. The band took 3rd place (out of 6) in our class and 4th (out of 11) in the second half of the competition. Our score of 85.7 is also one of the highest non-VMBC scores we’ve received since I’ve been here. Great job everyone!

UVA Seat Removal

• We have quite a few spots available to help with seat removal tomorrow from 4:30-6:30pm. Meet at Scott Stadium West Gate 

• Please sign up and help raise some money for your Nashville trip!

Speaking of the Nashville Trip

• The announcement for the Nashville trip was handed out in the band classes last week. 

• The Nashville trip is open to all members of the band program. 

• You can find the announcement form including the sign-up here

• Sign up for the trip and the deposit is due by this Friday

Last home football Game of the Season!

• This Friday night is the final home football game of the season. 

• We will end our rehearsal at 5:15 to eat dinner so we can get ready for senior night celebrations!

• Parents/Guardians of seniors will be invited to escort their student across the field at the beginning of the game. 

• The marching band will perform through halftime and then leave in order to rest up for the State Championship the next day.

• The state championship itinerary is more complicated because of the prelims finals format. If we don’t make finals we will be home by 6pm. If we do make finals we won’t be home until close to 1am.
