CHS Band Weekly Update 9/29/24

Good Afternoon Band Family!

I had a blast at yesterday’s competition with everyone. I hope that you all enjoyed it as well. This is the crazy week for the band, but first a recap of last night

Star City Classic Results:

• I am so proud of the performance by the students this weekend. You guys did awesome and a lot of judges noted the potential in the program. Now we have to take those most difficult steps of polishing and cleaning. 

• The band earned 2nd place visual, 2nd place guard, and 2nd place music in their class

• We also earned 1st place Percussion, 1st place effect (unannounced).

• We earned 2nd in our class and 7th out of 16 bands overall.

• The percussion score was the second highest score on the day! Congratulations everyone!

UVA Seat Sales:

• There are still plenty of volunteer spots for seat sales this weekend. It’s an 8:30am start but you should be finished by close to 1pm.

Cavalcade:

• Some of you saw your first marching band competition yesterday, and now you have an idea of the production that we will be putting on this weekend. 

• We need all the help we can get to make the Cavalcade a success. 

• Parent Volunteer sign-ups are here

• Also, if you know of any community sponsors/partnerships I need to get those in by Wednesday to include them in our program. 

Performer only Cavalcade Itinerary:

• Some students will be volunteering at the time of our warm-up and can ignore this schedule, but others will have volunteered earlier or as clean-up crew and will need to know call times.

• 6:45pm Dressed and ready to go in the band room

• 7:15pm warm-up

• 8:15pm performance

• 8:30pm Awards

All-VA Jazz Auditions are this weekend as well

• We also have three students auditioning for AVJE this coming weekend. Make sure you have those etudes polished and ready.
