CHS Band Boosters - August 2024 Update

Aug 19, 2024

Hello CHS Marching Band Parents,

The school year is in full swing and so is marching band season. There are a few things coming up over the next few weeks and I’ll have more details about sign-ups and donations soon enough. The focus of this email is to solicit help for Cavalcade.

Cavalcade is a one-day event, October 5th, where the CHS Marching Band hosts bands from all over the state to compete at CHS. It is a lot of fun to host and watch the other bands, it is also the largest one-day fundraiser the marching band does each year.

Although October 5th is just under seven weeks away this event requires a lot of planning and preparation so we’re asking for help now.

The biggest need we have right now is locating equipment to move bands from where they warm-up (near CHS) to the stadium (and back). We need at least six sets of a light trailer and UTV to move the band equipment. Some of these bands use three trailers. If you know anyone who would be willing to let us use their trailer and/or UTV for the weekend please reach out to John Naegle john.naegle@gmail.com and let him know. We have a few already lined up but need several more of each to make this a successful event. More details about what is needed are attached as a PDF.

We also have several committees with chairs but would love to have parents of non-seniors as co-chairs for each so there is some knowledge transfer. The committees are:

Concessions

Equipment

Hospitality

Parking / Traffic

Bus Parking

Band Check-In

Judges Booth

Volunteer Check-In

Equipment Parking

Reply to this email if you’re interested and I’ll make sure you’re included when we start detailed planning.

I’ve seen quite a few of you taking advantage of our “seat install workout” club. If you haven’t yet seen the enormous jumbo-video-a-tron they installed in the offseason you have another opportunity this Saturday. Seriously, it’s enormous.
